The season’s most lustworthy pieces.

Get Shorty
By April Moore and Tara Mattarazzo

Who wears short-shorts? Well, until recently, you would’ve been hard-pressed to find anyone sporting the skimpy apparel (except, of course, Richard Simmons and Tom Selleck in Magnum P.I. reruns). But ever since Jessica Simpson donned her daisy dukes last summer, shorts have been showing up on runways and in the stores. Unless you have a celebrity trainer, you’ll want to steer clear of thigh-baring, body-hugging versions (they’re thoroughly unforgiving if you’re not built like Kate Moss). These sleeker, more modestly cut styles offer a welcome alternative to nearly baring it all.

Nanette Lepore Serendipity Shorts ($185; eluxury.com)
A flirty tie belt, curved back pockets, and gold threading give these striped shorts an air of femininity.

Chip & Pepper Durka Durka Shorts ($180; neimanmarcus.com)
These army green shorts come with a braided wooden-bead tie, cuffed legs, and button-flap pockets.

Shin Choi Metallicized Shorts ($218; bloomingdales.com)
Knee-grazing and shimmery, these gold linen shorts are perfect for weekend getaways and hot summer nights.
