Wonder Bars
Wednesday
If you've ever crumbled one of Lush's bubble bars into your tub, you already know they create wonderfully decadent baths--the kind usually associated with the glamorous film stars of yesteryear. With the brand's latest line, you can enjoy the same decadence in six new luxurious scents ($4.95 to $7.95 each; lush.com). The first bar I tested, Temple of Truth, may look like a turnip, but once it hits the tub, the bathwater turns silky and frothy, infusing the entire room with a relaxing woodsy aroma (the fragrance is unisex, so this is a particularly good choice for co-ed bathing). Resembling a golden nugget, Sunny Side gives the water a shimmery metallic glow and an invigorating citrus scent (it's a perfect late-summer pick-me-up), while Frosty Glitter boasts a glistening pink color and an alluring vanilla-lavender aroma (if you like Lush's classic American Cream Conditioner, this bubble bar is a must-smell).

Meanwhile, the oversize Comforter bar (which, to its credit, really does resemble a rolled-up duvet) takes bathwater to Technicolor levels with a sweet berry scent. Marathon is just as boldly hued with a spicy fragrance (plus, the bathwater feels supertingly and soothing on sore muscles). And my personal favorite, Green Day, transforms the tub into the kind of freshwater oasis you only read about in books (the water's an almost electric viridian, and the aroma is about as refreshing as it gets). Luckily, the foamy formulas are good for several uses (just divide each bar into multiple pieces pre-crumble) and contain no harsh irritants or unnecessary preservatives. What you'll find in their stead? Baking soda and cream of tartar--two ingredients that leave baths with silver-screen-style bubbles and glide. --Jennifer Riley
