Much as I adore translucent glosses, come August, I'm already looking to the makeup horizon--trading in the sheer stuff for sexier, deeper-impact colors. Luckily, this new palette from Fresh ($36; sephora.com) comes fully loaded with six highly pigmented shades that are ideal for creating fall's dark-lipped look. Hues like Velvet Corsage (a rich berry), Ruby Slipper (an intense merlot), and Heirloom Gem (an opulent plum) can be worn on their own for a freshly bitten effect, layered over lipstick for a superstained lip, or combined with liner for extra staying power. Alternately, you can mix and match the hues with the palette's other shades (Garnet Pendant, a dazzling bronze, looks especially gorgeous paired with Velvet Corsage). Or to create the illusion of plumper lips without the usual pain, add just a dab of a lighter color like Tuille (a pinky nude) or Sweet Kiss (warm rose gloss) in the center of your bottom lip. --Jennifer Riley
