Bright Eyes, Big Lippies!
Wednesday
Summer will soon be winding down, but that doesn't mean you can't turn up the heat or the volume on your look. Want proof? Just head over to M.A.C. counters tomorrow for a glimpse of Technacolour and Plushglass, two innovative lines that amp up eyes and lips to impressive proportions. With Technacolour comes the new Technakohl Eye Liner ($14.50; maccosmetics.com), which combines the glide and blendability of a pencil with the precision and staying power of a liquid. Immune to smudges, creases, or fading (and believe me, I tried), the liner comes in nine jewel and neutral tones (my favorites are Auto-de-blu, an intense cobalt; Uniform, a rich golden green; and Earthline, a versatile brown). Plus, Technakohl boasts good-for-you ingredients like vitamins C and E, cupuacu butter, and the skin-firming hyaluronic acid (it might sound a bit strange to be swiping an acid-enriched product around your eyes, but don't worry--the formula is nonirritating, ophthalmologist-tested, and contact lens-safe). In addition, the collection contains nine Velvet Eye Shadows ($13.50 each) in shades that range from subdued to shocking (standouts include Ponpous Blue, a silvery aqua; Lightshade, a metallic beige; and B-Rich, a warm chocolate).

What Technacolour offers eyes in color and precision Plushglass delivers in fullness and sheen for lips. The brand's first pout plumper to date, the formula goes on smooth, boasts a sweet vanilla scent, and imparts an ever-so-subtle, temporary tingle (it's a far cry from the burning sensation of most lip volumizers). For this reason, Plushglass will be especially appealing to those seeking a little pain-free fullness. Over time, the product (which contains vanillyl butyl ether, lemon oil, and soybean and licorice extracts) is designed to enhance the condition of lips, meaning that the more you swipe on the sponge-tip gloss, the smoother your pout will feel. And then, of course, there are the colors--12 sheer and shimmery shades that range from the pearly Cushy White to the rich wine Oversexed (my favorites are the silvery pink Full for You and the bronzy Wet, Wild Wonderful). Hues like Pretty Plush, Bountiful, and Big Kiss all deliver a glistening finish, while others like Fulfilled, Wildly Lush, and Ample Pink offer a creamier take on the Plushglass trend. --Jennifer Riley
