Natural Selection

You make it a point to eat organic, buy sulfate-free shampoos, and wear sustainable chic (even those Stella McCartney vegan heels it took you months to find). But have you thought about what might be lurking in your lipstick? If the ingredient list is long enough for bedtime reading, fear not--Kiss My Face is now bringing its organic, natural approach to the world of makeup. "Venturing into color cosmetics seemed like a natural next step for us," says Bob MacLeod, the company's founder and owner. "We've always strived to make skin-care products safer and healthier for our consumers and the environment, so why not make makeup safe and healthy as well?"

The brand's newest launches include the 3WayColor for Lips, Cheeks & Eyes ($9; kissmyface.com), a paraben-free color enhancer that comes in four skin-flattering shades and gets its pigment from natural elements such as micas, iron oxides, and titanium dioxide, which also serves as a built-in sunscreen. In addition, the formula boasts a long-lasting natural oil-and-wax base; moisturizing olive and mango butter; and natural fruit flavors such as pomegranate, raspberry, pink grapefruit, and white grape. Equally impressive is the brand's Tinted Moisturizer ($10), a blendable, oil-free formula that comes in six shades and imparts a flawless finish. Also free of parabens, the moisturizer includes Ester C, a patented antioxidant that stimulates collagen production. As with all of Kiss My Face's products, the makeup line contains no animal ingredients, artificial colors, or unnecessary chemicals and does not test on animals. --Erin Roop
