First Kiss
Saturday
What do Madonna, Gwyneth, and Jude all have in common (aside from posh English homes and box-office millions)? They all love a little Kisu. Inspired by the aromas of ancient Japan, London boutique Tann Rokka recently unveiled its first fragrance, Kisu (Japanese for "kiss"), and it's a stunner. Created by Azzi Pickthall, the nose behind Agent Provocateur's eponymous aroma, the unisex scent combines traditional Japanese ingredients such as cedarwood, rosewood, and Eastern musks with Asiatic marine notes and heady ylang-ylang (a tropical flower with a powdery, vanillic smell). The resulting accord resembles the scent of a warm wooden sauna, where droplets of herb-infused moisture slowly drip down the walls and sweet incense releases its fragrant smoke into the air. Surprisingly unfussy, Kisu stays subtle and close to the skin as it transports its wearer to an exotic, perfumed locale. And speaking of exotic, the high-gloss, blossom-embellished bottle is worthy of any dresser. While the 50ml bottle ($75; luckyscent.com) is equipped with a standard atomizer, the 100ml version ($125; shown) also comes with an exquisite gift box and a traditional bulb atomizer for that extra bit of luxury. --Marlen Harrison

I'm swooning over this packaging and the way you described the scent. I just wish it wasn't so expensive.

Hi glitterx - I recommend getting a sample (great, inexpensive way to try before you buy) from perhaps lucky.com; you may find discounts on Ebay or for swap at MakeUpAlley.com.
