Whish-ful Thinking
Tuesday
My shower is filled with more bath products than my local Sephora. But when it comes to shaving creams, I tend to go the no-frills route (translation: I steal my boyfriend's Barbasol). And while it does the trick, the generic, skin-drying foam doesn't exactly make for the most pampering experience. So when I heard about Whish—a line of women's body creams ($32 each; whishbody.com) designed to make shaving “luxurious, moisturizing, soothing”—I had to see for myself whether the products would (A) deliver on the hair-removal front and (B) transform a mundane task into a more pleasurable beauty ritual.

Upon opening the containers, I was immediately smitten with the three lush scents. Pomegranate and Lemongrass are fruity, refreshing summer soufflés, while Almond has a rich, sweet aroma better suited to cold-weather months. When I smoothed a dollop of it on my leg, I was initially perplexed by the cold cream–like texture and lack of lather. But as it turns out, instead of foaming or bubbling, the cream (made from mild glycerin soap, essential oils, and other natural ingredients) spreads and moisturizes like a sumptuous wash, rather than your typical guy-foam. All of this made the in-shower experience far more gratifying, but would the lavish cream leave me hair-free?

After a few swipes of the Mach III, my skin was just as smooth as it had ever been post-foam, without any nicks, scratches, or pesky ingrowns. What's more, my legs felt softer and more hydrated, and the fragrance lingered for hours. The downside to all of this shaving splendor? My boyfriend has taken a liking to the Lemongrass, so the container won't last nearly as long as it should. —Jennifer Riley
