Happy Days
Tuesday
Now that the weather's warming up, it’s time to find a fresh new fragrance that expresses the optimism of the season. Clinique’s Happy in Bloom ($37.50; clinique.com)--a bright, feminine scent that “celebrates a world suddenly in flower,” according to the company--won me over at first whiff. A crisp mix of fruity and floral aromas, the fragrance features topnotes of yellow plum, watery greens, and frozen fruits that give way to muguet, white freesia, and mimosa accord (the original Happy’s signature middle note) and basenotes of white wood and transparent amber. The sleek bottle, reportedly inspired by Clinique’s trademark packaging, features a single pink-and-orange flower that looks like a modernized version of the ’60s-style blooms seen on shows like the Dating Game. Much like the spring garden though, Happy in Bloom’s splendor is fleeting—the scent is limited edition, so start stockpiling now. —Kai Alexis Smith
