Remember When?
Tuesday
Is that Designer Imposters perfume in the air, or did I just have a junior-high flashback? Sure, we’ve all grown up since scrunchies, slouch socks, and seventh-grade couple-skating, but whatever happened to our most beloved beauty products? Well, pass your best work bud a note over the cubicle—it’s time to take a break from your tourmaline-charged facials and cosmeceutical creams to find out which of your old favorites are new and improved, still going strong, or missing in action.

Love’s Baby Soft Cologne Spray by Dana is still available in its signature bubblegum pink bottle ($9; amerimark.com, shown), while the beloved Tinkerbell perfume can now only be scavenged on eBay. Maybelline’s Kissing Potion, in tasty flavors like Cherry Cola, rose from the ’80s ashes when it was re-released (and swiftly re-retired) in early 2001, but Bonne Bell LipSmackers remain a drugstore staple beloved by Hollywood starlets like Jennifer Love Hewitt. Those giant blue tubs of Noxema, Sea Breeze astringent, and Dippity-Do styling gel can all be ordered in their original formulas at Drugstore.com (but with swank new 21st-century packaging). And the acne-plagued teens of today are still swiping their blemishes with cotton balls soaked in Clinique Clarifying Lotion 2 (clinique.com). I guess some things never change. —Shauna Billings

Oh my god! I loved Tinkerbell perfume!!! Wish I could still get it today. Glad I've graduated from Noxema though - yuck.

Great blog! I totally forgot about all that stuff I used to use, until now.

I had completely forgotten about Love's Baby Soft perfume. It was a favorite of my aunt while she was in college and then I got hooked. Wow. I had forgotten that whole thing until now. ;)

LOL! So true! I thought I was the only one thinking of these "nostalgic" products...Yup, I definitely used Sea Breeze, Noxzema(that was only temporary due to its uber thick consistency), Bonne Bell ten-o-six, and of course Love's baby Soft! Oh and those kissing coolers from maybelline! Great blog!!
