M.A.C. Attack
Sunday
Calling all M.A.C. addicts! Make room in your train case (we know it’s daunting, but the rewards will be worth it). This Thursday marks the debut of Sundressing and Liquidlast—two new lines that offer something summery for everyone. The Sundressing body mousse, a shimmery bronzing makeup, comes in three shades (we worried when we didn’t see a light version, but the Medium added a surprisingly subtle glow to our pasty limbs). The line also includes four must-have nail polishes: Seadip, a vibrant blue frost; Resortwear, a glistening pale gold; Cabana, a rich pearlized brown; and Summery, a creamy apricot (and our new go-to lacquer).

Meanwhile, the makeup collection boasts an array of goodies, including five lipsticks, four glosses, five eye shadows, two pencil liners, two powder blushes, one mascara, and two pigments. Some of our favorites include the lustrous Coppertime Lipstick, the shimmery Shell Pink Beauty Powder, the frosty Relaxing Eye Shadow, and the Languish Lipglass (wear it over lipstick for a high-gloss look, or blot it for a sexy stained effect). We gave up on Pigment restraint a long time ago (we must collect them all), but the newest little pots, Gold Dusk and Softwash Grey, are outstanding by any estimation. In fact, we’re so enamored with the former that it’s replacing Vanilla as our everyday highlighter (at least while the warm weather lasts).

Every bit as lustworthy, the Liquidlast collection offers a new high-precision formula that’s smudgeproof, flakeproof, and, as its name suggests, amazingly long-lasting. Typically, stay-put liquid liners mean matteness, but what impressed us most was the vibrancy and pearlization they delivered without the usual dull-down. The palette includes everything from rich neutrals to jewel tones (and the more brilliant the hue, the more hooked we became). Color junkies will love Aqualine, a shocking teal, Auto-Orange, an almost-electric copper, and Blue Horizon, a eye-popping cobalt. Meanwhile, shades like Greenplay, a sparkling veridion, Coco Bar, a deep chocolate, and Classic Cream, a sandy beige, deliver the coupe de grace on the Sundressing look—laid-back, sun-drenched luxe (the cosmetic complement to this summer’s non-work ethic). —Jennifer Riley
