Sui for Spring
Friday
No one captures the thrill of being a girl better than Anna Sui. And if you can’t afford the dresses from her runway collection, you can get a more affordable girlie fix with her spring makeup line—a painterly palette of candy pinks, dewy apricots, brilliant reds, and dazzling golds.

When I first opened the precious Face Color Accents compacts ($22 each; victoriassecret.com, shown), I was delighted with their delicious soft rose scent but uneasy at the prospect of using reds or corals on anything but my lips (think clowns and ladies who still sport beehives). Yet as I swept a bright confectionery pink on the apples of my cheeks, I was pleasantly surprised at how sheer the pigment appeared; instead of looking like Bozo, I appeared to have a gorgeous post-workout glow. Colors like coral and gold blended flawlessly on my eyelids and were also fun to play with after a season of blah taupes and browns. Another delicious surprise: two limited-edition lipsticks, the glossy Sui Rouge G and the shimmery Sui Rouge S ($20 each; victoriassecret.com). At first sight, they might resemble the chalky pastel lipsticks your mom wore in the ’60s, but they go on sheer, look lustrous, and offer just the right amount of lip-plumping moisture, making it easy to look fabulous without pricey collagen injections or couture clothing. —Gigi
