Packing Heat
Sunday
You know how it is: No matter how many acne products you try, those pesky pimples just won’t go away. And if your zits do get slathered with most potions and lotions, you end up with a dry, peeling mess. Ready to stop the cream-smearing madness? The Zeno ($225; drugstore.com), a handheld acne-clearing device, might render that arsenal of ointments currently lined up on your bathroom shelf obsolete. The product zaps the bacteria in up-and-coming blemishes with controlled low-level heat, causing them to self-destruct within 12 to 24 hours. Although a few two-and-a-half-minute treatments are recommended, for many pimples, one treatment is enough. If you’re skeptical, take this to heart: In 90 percent of patients involved in an FDA-reviewed clinical trial, pimples caught early and treated with Zeno faded or disappeared in less than a day, and the product has been found to have fewer side effects than typical acne medications. Just remember, zits shouldn’t be treated like friends, so bring on the heat! —Jennifer Magid
