Flower Power
Wednesday
Fragrances brewed up from the petals of aromatic blossoms are a given. But masks and moisturizing creams? Hmmm…. Suspicious of any cosmetic that could be construed as a marketing gimmick, I had my doubts when I first began testing Fleur’s, a French beauty line mixed from the “infinite treasures of the vegetal world,” according to the company. But with spring is right around the corner, and since it’s also a sister brand of skin-care powerhouse Phytomer, I maintained a degree of optimism—an approach that paid off after four weeks of testing, when I was delighted with the results.

Packed with kiwi extracts and passionflower oil, the Defensive Renewing Facial Treatment Mask ($84.50) left my sensitive skin feeling baby soft, while the Aroma Mineral Facial Cream ($54.50) only enhanced its suppleness (for best results, apply the cream between 9 and 11 p.m.). As a 28-year-old who doesn’t have any wrinkles yet—knock on wood—I can’t attest to these products’ ability to soften lines, but I was so impressed with their moisturizing abilities, they’re sure to occupy an enduring position in my medicine cabinet as a preventative double-threat. In addition, the deliciously fragrant Soft Hands Replenishing Cream ($27.50), featuring elderberry, water-lily, and lime-flower extracts, transformed my weather-beaten hands into velvety mitts, and I fell head over heels for the Exfoliating Shower Gel ($33.50), a gentle, aromatic slougher made from jojoba-oil, lotus-flower, and hawthorn extracts that tempted my boyfriend’s olfactory senses all day long. As a former skeptic, I now have to admit that a sunny disposition does have its benefits. For more information or to order Fleur's products, call 877-FLEURS7. —Jennifer Ciotta
