Find of the Week: The Longest Yard
Wednesday
I’m a firm believer in the power of the accessory. Last year, I jazzed up everything from wife beaters to wool sweaters with wrists full of jingly, jangly bangles. In the spring and summer, I completed just about every outfit with at least three inches of dazzling beads and baubles swinging from my earlobes. Now it’s 2006, and long, chunky necklaces have stolen my heart. They’re economical (this budget fashionista will always sing the praises of a deal), and they’re pretty easy to find. Girlprops.com has an arsenal of affordably priced necklaces from which to choose, including my personal favorite, the 64-inch amber-and-brass beaded number ($13; shown). But above all else, they’re versatile. Wear one as a single strand with a knot or in a cascade of loops; sling it around your shoulder Rambo-style, and let it rock sideways; or pair one with some shorter necklaces for an eclectic, Bohemian look. Long on length but even longer on style, these chunky strands can make any ensemble go from eh to ooh. –Janelle Harris
