Model Behavior
Tuesday
From streaky self-tanner to bleeding lipstick, most of us have a long list of beauty qualms. And we’re not the only ones: After listening to the cosmetics complaints of models for years, Australian Shelley Barrett, a former agent, launched ModelCo—a brand dedicated to helping women navigate beauty’s little speed bumps. The company released its first product, the heated Lash Wand ($25; sephora.com), in 2002. Smaller than a magic marker and easy to use, the battery-operated tool flips and bends even the shortest lashes, and the curl lasts for hours. After the lash wand’s runaway success, ModelCo started appearing in department stores worldwide, and today the brand boasts more than 60 solutions-based products. The Tan Remover Exfoliating Scrub ($14) is ideal for anyone who’s suffered streaky self-tanner side effects, while the Perfection Lip Wax Kit ($28, shown) is designed to make lipstick stay put (plus, I’ve found it to be an effective lip volumizer, minus the harsh, irritating effects of most plumpers). —Meghan Casey
