L’Oreal Makeover: Project Runway Episode 10
Sunday
On the heels of last week’s foliage fest, the remaining five contestants faced an even more daunting challenge this week—orchestrating a head-to-toe makeover for one of their fellow designers. In typical Project Runway fashion, Heidi Klum doled the assignments: Kara would design for Santino, Santino for Kara, Nick for Daniel, Chloe for Nick, and Daniel V. (who was granted immunity) for Chloe. After gathering in groups to discuss their makeover sketches and strategies, each was given $200 for fabrics and two days to complete the challenge.

Back in the workroom, Nick was confident in his ability to design a smashing suit for Daniel but grew so annoyed with Santino’s potty mouth that he gave him the silent treatment. Kara struggled with time-management for the second week in a row, while Chloe grappled with the task of creating menswear—something she’d never attempted before. In the midst of sewing and cutting, Tim Gunn announced a welcome surprise: L’Oreal consultant Collier Strong would be doing the designers’ hair and makeup so that they could strut their stuff with aplomb for the usual catwalk critics and guest judge Freddie Leiba, a celebrity stylist.

On the runway, Chloe prevailed with a beautifully tailored pair of pinstripe pants and matching suit vest with pink satin back (shown). Much to her credit, she opted not to make a suit jacket—a time-consuming task that might’ve compromised the rest of her creation. Similar to last week, Kara came in second, presenting a kinder and gentler Santino, in red madras pants, a white long-sleeve tee worn under an olive polo, and the finishing touch, a handmade chapeau. Unfortunately, the men didn’t fare so well. Daniel V.’s trashy, poorly constructed red dress with brown leather corset took Chloe from adorable to ancient (Daniel’s immunity chip came at just the right time). Santino’s formfitting chocolate jumpsuit for Kara was an ambitious idea gone horribly wrong: Because he failed to finish in time, he actually glued Kara into the garment—egads! But in the end, it was Nick who got the Auf. Despite his best intentions, the high-sheen suit he designed for Daniel V., complete with soft shoulders, no pockets, and crumpled seams, looked more geriatric lady than GQ. —Jennifer Ciotta

Well I have continued to be a little more dissapointed in Nick as the weeks have progressed. He made a statement that he had done(i'm not sure if he has just designed it} men's wear obviously he has never sewn it.The fabric looked like a duchess satin great for a gown but cetainly a challenge for a suit let alone a mens suit wich is not of course what he made It was made in a dressmaker style not tailored His ambition did get the better of him. Santino!!! how many times can he dodge the bullet?
