Hot Chocolate
Saturday
Nowadays, you can walk into almost any beauty store and find a mosaic of sweetly scented, often edible products inspired by an array of decadent foods—cinnamon rolls, strawberry shortcake, birthday cake, and everyone’s favorite, chocolate. The funny thing is, if you’d tried these products just a few years ago, you would have been baffled as to how the creators ever conjured a connection between, say, a delicious-smelling piece of chocolate cake and what was contained in those little bottles. Luckily, times have changed, and on my quest for chocolaty product perfection, I found a few cosmetics that actually live up to their epicurean associations.

One of the most raved-about desserts in the United States has now been bottled for our showering bliss—the Serendipity 3 Chocolatress Shampoo and Conditioner ($12; cosmeticmall.com, shown), based on New York City restaurant Serendipity 3’s famed Frrrozen Hot Chocolate. The product was recently featured on Oprah, and for good reason: It’s fabulous. Another cosmetic that delivers on its olfactory claims is Chocolate Ice Cream by Philosophy ($16; philosophy.com). Not only does it smell amazingly like the original; it’s a shampoo, conditioner, and body wash all in one. In both cases, these products will feed your chocolate craving without requiring you to spend weeks doing penance at the gym. (Although if you’ve ever had the pleasure of tasting Serendipity 3’s yummy Frrrozen treat in Manhattan, you know it’s worth every calorie). —Jessica McCubbin
