Tea Time
Wednesday
Here’s a little-known fact: January is National Hot Tea Month. That’s right, coffee lovers, your granny’s beloved beverage warrants a whole month of celebration. “Tea is an ideal beverage—delicious, refreshing, soothing, and healthful,” says Joe Simrany, president of the Tea Council of the USA. OK, maybe he’s a little biased, but plenty of impartial scientists agree that the steamy drink is good for you. In fact, studies show that black tea helps to lower cholesterol, improve heart health, and boost the immune system, while green tea does all that and more, even aiding in the fights against acne and obesity.

But if hot beverages aren’t your cup of...well, you know...there are plenty of other ways to enjoy tea’s health-enhancing benefits. The antioxidants that help it prevent cancer can also minimize the appearance of wrinkles, so try an anti-aging serum that contains tea extracts, like Bliss An Ounce of Prevention AM ($48; drugstore.com). To harness green tea’s immune-boosting and acne-fighting antibacterial properties, check out Mandom’s Green Tea Face Scrub ($7.50; onatoko.com), a Japanese import so coveted that it sells out every few months. And if you’re just jonesing for the aroma of your local tea house, L’Artisan Tea for Two Eau de Toilette ($75; luckyscent.com) re-creates the scent of warm spiced tea, while Elizabeth Arden’s Green Tea Scent Spray ($35; dillards.com) is sure to soothe your senses. —Erika Villani

Great post. I'm a tea addict - especially Chai tea. Anyone who's never had it really oughta shoulda.

    Sexy fun blog.
