Out, Out Spot
Thursday
Whether you couldn’t bear to block out the sun last summer, had a baby recently, or have been taking the birth control pill for years, take note: The resulting brown spots (known as melasma, or chloasma) are treatable. Some spas offer light-zapping treatments, but they’re pricey and dicey (they can actually make dark spots darker). Luckily, Philosophy’s Pigment of Your Imagination brightening tonic ($30; philosophy.com) lightens up shady specks with the help of hydroquinone. Although the bleaching agent is found in most skin lighteners, Philosophy’s version is applied as a serum with a cool dropper top, as opposed to a heavy, pore-clogging cream. Pigment of Your Imagination also works on freckles and age spots. —Amy Mack
